Halloween Weekend

A few months ago my friend Charla and a bunch of friends decided that it would be fun to dress up as the Muses from Disney's Hercules.

A month later, the other friends bailed and it was just going to be me and Charla who would be Muses. We decided that you can't have just two Muses and still be cool, and came up with dozens of awesome costume ideas. We finally settled on being Nazi Zombies.

But then when we checked out the stores for supplies, we realized that those costumes would be way too expensive. So we decided to be regular zombies from Left for Dead 2.

A week before Halloween, Uncle Michael told me about his awesome LotR idea. I had already committed to hanging out with Charla on Saturday and that's when the event would be happening for the LotR group as well. I spent much of the day Friday making a new LotR-centered costume for Owen of the Witch King. On Saturday I figured out a way to make Mariel look kind of elven. Maybe like a LotRO character... no one specific but still cool.

When the time came for Mariel and Owen to go meet the group, my friend still hadn't contacted me even though I'd tried to contact her multiple times about what was going on.

I ended up joining the Lord of the Rings group as a zombie. If I had known that I'd be spending the evening with them anyway, I would have made something cooler for myself. Like the Eye of Sauron.

But it was still fun.

I didn't take any pictures, but many pictures were taken. I hope to see them soon.

Witch King

That's all I've got so far.

Halloween Costumes

They're really fun to make. I'm now constructing a new costume for Owen so he can join the LotR ensemble tomorrow evening. He'll be the witch king.

Still No Job

I suppose I can't say that I've been "actively" pursuing a job since I'm not applying for new jobs every day. Maybe I'd actually get hired if I did that. Maybe I'll start being more active about getting a job and then I can join the noble workforce of the State of Utah.

It's very discouraging, though, when I am led on by interviewers who pretend they'll be getting in touch with me and then decide that for whatever reason, I'm not right for the job and never call me back. So what am I supposed to do?

First step, get a job. Second step, go back to school and get a degree in Medical Technology or something cool like that. Third step, skip the first and second steps and just write a novel. It *is* almost November, after all. Fourth step, you rolled doubles twice, go straight to jail, do not pass GO, do not collect $200. Hmm... that's just not appealing at all.

I've got it!! I'll just become a hippie and live off the land. Join a commune or something. Or I can become one of those video game testers who make millions and never do anything but sit on their fat butts all day pretending to live inside their XBOX. What a life.

Or maybe I'll go buy those P90X workouts and get so fit that producers are begging me to come be a stunt double for their awesome BJJ scenes.

I welcome the ideas of others. What next?

O Ye of Little Faith

Of course I'm still living with my family! Why would I want to pay for room and board when I can get it for free? That would be silly.

Interviews and More Interviews

I've interviewed with supervisors in three different departments of ARUP Laboratories.

I am most interested in Virology. My second choice is Molecular Genetics and my least favorite of the three is Infectious Disease Processing. The reason for these preferences is that I would get the most hands-on experience in Virology and then Genetics and so forth.

Prayers that one of these positions will work out would be very much appreciated. :)
